PACKING LIST: HOSPITAL BAG FOR MOM & DAD

Hi friends! How was your weekend? Anyone else heated up the grill and had too much to eat and who's all excited that BBQ season has started? On Saturday we went to the park Rivierenhof and yesterday we had ice cream from Fratelli and drinks in the city ('t'Eilandje, love this district in Antwerp) , such good times! Whispering to myself: But I did feel like a big rock dragging myself up a mountain haha! #week37 #getthisbabyout

I'm starting this week with a brand new post, on Monday!!! That's right! Heee... Monday can be fun!

Today I'm sharing what I've packed for our stay in the hospital with you lovelies. The months to go have turned into just a couple of days or weeks and well let's say our bags have already seen the trunk of the car a couple of times these past weeks. I've been to the hospital for check-ups and monitoring because of contractions and other crazy symptoms that made me think 'this is it' every time. Being a first time mommy I just don't know what to feel or what to expect and it's easy to think that labor has started or that something is off. Well, Any day now! We're ready!

I must say I feel more relaxed now everything on the checklist is done and the bags are ready for us to leave in a split second. It also helps that the hospital is only a short drive away and I feel really at ease when I'm there being taken care by the kindest staff. Off course I'm nervous for the big day but I'm keeping a positive mindset. The world bursts of people.. so if all these strong women can do it, so can I. Let's do this!

This is what I packed for my stay after the birth in the hospital. If the hospital will have a room with an extra bed available when I go in, I would like my husband to sleep over as well. I think it's just super important to spend those first days and weeks together as much as possible. The stay can be as short as one night up to 4 if everything runs smooth. (5 days for a c-section) So I packed enough comfortable clothes to cover up to 5 days of hospital stay for us both.

We decided to keep visitation in the hospital limited to both our parents, my husband sister and her husband and baby's godmothers and godfathers, as we are planning a relaxed and fun birth party for our baby to meet his family and friends in the summer. With this in mind I sticked to a comfortable-only philosophy. It'll be comfort above fancy, we'll keep the fancy outfits for later. It's all about spending those moments cocooning with baby. <3

I will bring my basic every day makeup set. Yes a bit of concealer and mascara does make me feel better in my skin, guilty!

There are also a couple of things I didn't pack because my hospital provides them. (maxi pads, slips and diapers for baby, .. ) In fact my packing list is based mostly on the list of things the hospital suggested to bring. They also suggested to pack a separate plastic bag with old clothes, soap and towels, to change into right after birth.

Labor can take a long time and chances are we will be there for quite some time so I packed some earbuds to listen to music or Netflix and a magazine. It might take the edge off a bit in stressed tired hours waiting for baby I thought. Maybe this is stupid to think that we'll actually need this but we'll see, I'll just bring it along.

Have you been through labor and do you have great tips? Leave 'em below so other mommy's and myself can learn from your experience. After all, we're a tribe #momtribe <3

Until next time!

Bisous, Anaïs
